ABOUT AMBA The American Museum of Beat Art and it's
web site is a archive and collection of works and artifacts pertaining to the Beat Generation, it's writers, poets, artists and their offspring. The growing Museum web site also contains an expanding gallery of artworks and artifacts which access Beat culture to anyone on the world wide web.
We have a number of permanent and temporary collections
of images, biographies, and archival written matter. We accept donations of art works pertaining to the Beat generation and culture.
Our on-line Beat Store features books, poetry, collector's editions, and videotapes for sale. As well, there are links to other resources on the world wide web.
Membership in the American Museum of Beat Art
is available via on-line registration or by mail.
We are dedicated to exploring and celebrating Beat Art and Beat Culture. Beside their world of bohemian non-conformity and cultural non-compliance, the Beats created
a wealth of non-traditional artworks and experimental poetry and prose. The Beat Generation writers and artists, through their redemption of the commonplace, took art out of the galleries and back to the
streets. The Beats freedom of expression shook up post-war stasis and gave birth to cultural diversity and the widespread counter-culture of the sixties, seventies and beyond. |
